Midwest Gathering of the Artists set Sept. 12-14

CARTHAGE, Mo. -

For the 31st consecutive year, artists throughout the Midwest will show their talents at the annual Midwest Gathering of the Artist Show Sept 12, 13 and 14 at the Carthage Memorial Hall.

This year, 33 artists will assemble in Carthage to show their paintings, sculptures and other artwork.

The auction and awards will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Memorial Hall. There will be beverages and hors d’oeuvres, followed by the awards and auction. The cost is $20 per person.

On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13-14, is the art show and sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The admission is free.

Participating artists are: Andy Thomas, April Davis, Bill Snow, Billy Kirk, Bob Tommey, Bobby Hunt, Bob Duffie, Cal Sechrest, Dan McWilliams, Debbit Reed, Don Goin, Doug Hall, Doug Prine, Garnet Buster, Gail McÅrgel, Jack Sours, Ken Southwick, Kyle Carroll, Laura Reilly, larry Case, Lowell Davis, Marthag Spurlock, Martiena R. Richter, Raymond Popp, Richard Thompson, Robin Putnam, John Fitzgibbon, Roy Lee Ward, Steven Napper, Theresa Rankin, Todd A. Williams, Tricia Courtney and Karen Honaker.

The show was founded in 1978 by Lowell Davis and Bob Tommey. They recruited friend and auctioneer Danny Hensley and thus became the creation of The Midwest Gathering of the Artists.

The first show was in a small building on the historic Carthage Square. In addition to Tommey and Davis, the show had six other aspiring artists exhibiting.
