The Jasper County Sheriff's Office is holding a car wash to raise money for its Shop with a Deputy program to help children in poor families in Jasper County get gifts for Christmas.
The car wash will last from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday and be held in the First Baptist Church parking lot, 631 S. Garrison Ave., next to the Carthage Fire Department.
"The Sheriff's Office will be selling raffle tickets at the car wash for different items, and selling hot dogs, chips, and soda," the office said in a written release. "All proceeds go directly to the Shop with a Deputy program. The Shop with a Deputy program helps selected children purchase presents for Christmas, that might otherwise go without. If it rains, the car wash will be rescheduled and you will be notified of the new date."
Deputies helped more than 60 children last Christmas from the Sarcoxie, Jasper and Avilla school districts buy gifts for themselves and their family members at the Carthage Wal-Mart store.
