The drunk driving charge against former Pittsburg State football coach Chuck Broyles has been dropped.

Galena City Attorney Kevin Cure said Tuesday that the Intoxilyzer machine used to test Broyles’ blood-alcohol level when he was pulled over on Nov. 24 was not properly calibrated, thus rendering “useless” in court any result from the blood-alcohol test.

“There were not enough other facts to sustain a prosecution,” Cure said, “once it was determined that the Intoxilyzer had not been calibrated upon usage on Mr. Broyles to test blood-alcohol level.”
