Tickets to the eighth installment of the Fall Classic between NCAA Division II powerhouses Northwest Missouri State and Pittsburg State go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Monday, July 6.
The 2009 edition of this classic rivalry will be played at Arrowhead Stadium at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Northwest and Pittsburg State have combined to win outright or share the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association title in 18 of the last 20 seasons dating back to 1989. PSU has advanced to the NCAA Division II Playoffs in 15 of the last 19 years. Northwest has qualified in 11 of the last 13 seasons, including four-straight national championship game appearances.
Pittsburg State head coach Chuck Broyles and Northwest head coach Mel Tjeerdsma are the two winningest head coaches in MIAA history with 193 and 157 victories, respectively. Broyles led PSU to a national title in ’91 and second-place finishes in ’92, ’95 and 2004. Tjeerdsma guided the Bearcats to back-to-back national championships in ’98-99 and has been the national runner-up in the last four seasons.
Tickets for the game are $20 for adults; $10 for students (high school aged and younger) and for Northwest and Pitt State students with a valid college ID; or $25 for club level seats (Adults and Students).
