The Carthage Aquatic Swim Team continued team competition over the weekend (June 20-21), in the Monett Invitational swim meet at the Monett Municipal Swimming Pool.

In all, 12 teams, including Carthage, competed in the Monett Invitational. The Carthage Aquatic Swim Team (CAT), with 221.50 points, captured fifth overall in the A Division, while Monett easily placed first, scoring 990 points.

The Joplin Stingray Swim Team, with 666.50 points, finished second overall, followed by Siloam Springs (Ark.), and Missouri State Aquatics.

Monett also captured first in the C Division, scoring 899.50 points, followed by Joplin (527.50), Siloam Springs (527), Carthage (368) and Missouri State Aquatics (244).

Next, the Carthage Aquatic Swim Team, made up of boys and girls ranging from kindergarten through 18 years old, head to Pittsburg, Kan., for a two-day meet, slated for Saturday, June 27, and Sunday, June 28.

In the A Division, Carthage’s boys’ 10-and-under 100-yard medley relay team, comprised of Nash Williams, Seth Jensen, Blake Arnold and Quinn Lasley, captured third with a time of 1:32.04. The girls’ 10-and-under 100-yard medley relay team finished third at 2:51.91.

Brandon Hazlett, competing in the 15-18-year-old 200-yard freestyle, captured second with a time of 2:05.22. Hazlet, with a time of 31.00, finished third in the 15-18-year old 50-yard backstroke.

Jensen, competing in the 10-and-under 50-yard freestyle, finished fourth at 33.37. In the 10-and-under 50-yard backstroke, Jensen finished first with a time of 38.50, earning nine points for Carthage. He also placed second in the 10-and-under 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:23.85.

Addie Kunard, in the girls’ 10-and-under 100-yard individual medley, placed fifth with a time of 1:39.06.

In the C Division, Carthage’s 8-and-under 100-yard medley relay team, comprised of Avery Sneed, Robbie Sager, Cole Brayden and Max Williams, finished third with a time of 2:23.43. Amanda Arnold, Coy Brooklyne, Ivy White and Calin Dawley, competing in the girls’ 13-14-year-old 200-yard medley relay, finished first with a time of 2:21.84, earning 18 points.

In the boys’ 6-and-under 25-yard freestyle, Williams placed fourth with a time of 31.71. Blake Arnold, in the boys’ 10-and-under 50-yard freestyle, finished first, garnering five points for Carthage.

Chloe Sanders, in the girls’ 10-and-under 50-yard freestyle, placed first at 38.76. In the girls’ 13-14-year-old 50-yard freestyle, Lacey Stephens, with a time of 31.32, finished first. Hazlett, competing in the 15-18-year-old 50-yard freestyle, captured first with a time of 26.34.

In the 6-and-under 25-yard backstroke, Sager finished second at 34.56. Blake Arnold finished first in the boys’ 10-and-under 50-yard backstroke at 40.13. Arnold finished first in the 100-yard individual medley, while Logan Kunard captured first in the boys’ 15-18-year-old 50-yard backstroke.

Ivy White, competing in the girls’ 13-14-year old 200-yard individual medley, placed first with a time of 2:49.58.
