Royals' homers overcome Santana's strong 3 innings

Angels starter Ervin Santana held the Royals to one hit and struck out five in three innnings, but Chris Getz and Mitch Maier hit two-run homers in the fifth inning to lift Kansas City to a 12-3 victory over Los Angeles on Saturday.

Getz was 0 for 12 before he homered on a 1-2 pitch off Angels right-hander Rafael Rodriguez. Maier also homered off Rodriguez, on an 0-2 pitch.

Santana only gave up a single to Willie Bloomquist.

Kyle Farnsworth, who is bidding for a spot in the rotation, worked three innings and allowed one hit to pick up the victory.
