The Carthage sixth grade Blue youth football team, backed by stellar offensive play, defeated Lamar, 36-14, Saturday during the 2009 home opener at K.E. Baker Stadium.

Carthage’s Uriah Dame opened the scoring with a 60-yard fumble return. The Tigers, led offensively by Alex Derryberry who scored once and also converted a two-point conversion, head to Neosho Saturday, Sept. 19.

Kendall Young, who converted a pair of two-point conversions, scored once and Dausen Gourley found the end zone twice on a pair of runs. Defensively, Bulldog Brown, Braiden Davis, Jess Hettinger, Edxel Morales, Dame, Young and Derryberry led the Tigers.
