Lady Tigers beat Monett in three games to open regular season
Another season opener for Carthage High School, another win.
Carthage High School is now a perfect 3-0 in season openers this season.
The latest victory belonged to the CHS volleyball team, who knocked off Monett in three games Tuesday at Monett High School.
“We had to battle with Monett and we came out on top,” said second-year head coach Butch Loveall. “They played aggressive ball with their serve and that caused us to pass poorly in the first game.”
The Lady Tigers dropped the first match, 25-17, before rebounding with successive wins to come away with the win.
The Lady Tigers won the second match 25-23 to tie Monett, and squeaked out a 26-24 victory in the third match.
“We came out in the second and third (matches) and brought our serve receive up to a better percentage which gave us more opportunities to attack the ball,” Loveall explained.
Aleisha Joyce and Alex Giett led with six kills. Giett led the Lady Tigers with 10 digs.
The Lady Tigers junior varsity and freshmen teams swept Monett in two matches to complete the hat trick.
