The Pittsburg State University football team took a seven-spot tumble in the recent AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 poll.

The Gorillas came into last Saturday’s matchup with Northwest Missouri State, ranked No. 4 but a 30-10 loss to the Bearcats at the Fall Classic at Arrowhead, dropped Pitt State to No. 11 for the week.

Northwest moved up from No. 7 to No. 6 and Central Missouri — this week’s opponent for the Gorillas — also moved up one spot, from No. 13 to No. 12.

Augustana (S.D.) beat Minnesota-Crookston, 49-0, to move its record to 3-0 on the season and earned a No. 25 ranking in the AFCA Division II Coaches’ Top 25 Poll for the first time since the poll’s inception in 2000.

The Vikings have their first Top 25 matchup next Saturday as they travel to No. 8 Minnesota-Duluth.

Grand Valley State (Mich.) still holds down the No. 1 spot after handing then-No. 16 Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) a 38-7 loss.

Abilene Christian (Texas), North Alabama, Bloomsburg (Pa.) and Central Washington round out the Top 5.

No. 22 Washburn and No. 24 Midwestern State (Texas) join Augustana (S.D.) as newcomers to the poll this week.
