Another season starts Monday for Carthage High School, as fall sports practices begin for football, volleyball, girls tennis, cross country, softball and boys soccer.

Practice for Carthage High School boys swimming begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Carthage Fair Acres Family YMCA for all boys in grades 9-12.

One new coach, Tom Brumfield, will debut at CHS this fall, replacing Debbie Smallwood as the girls’ tennis coach. Practice begins at 9 a.m. at the Carthage Middle School tennis courts.

Also making her CHS coaching debut this fall is Shally Lundien, who replaces Gordon Godfrey as the Lady Tigers’ head softball coach. Practice begins at 9 a.m. at Fair Acres Sports Complex and concludes at 11:30 a.m.

Jacob Osborne, who was named the boys’ soccer head coach earlier this year, said soccer practice begins at 8:30 a.m. Monday morning at  Fair Acres Sports Complex.

Andy Youngworth, head cross country coach, said cross country practice begins at 6 a.m. Monday at the P.E. Annex.

Butch Loveall, head volleyball coach, said practice for this year’s volleyball team begins at 9 a.m. Monday morning at the high school. And the Tiger football team, headed by Jon Guidie, begins also begins practice at 9 a.m. Monday at the K.E. Baker Stadium practice field.

Athletes must turn in physicals and a proof of insurance before they will be allowed to practice.
