The Homecoming game went as planned Friday night for Jasper.

The Eagles came away with a 62-49 win over the Sarcoxie Bears, improving  to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in the Spring River Valley Conference.

Sarcoxie took an early 2-0 lead, but Jasper put together a run with hot shooting from senior Jesse Hodge. He knocked down a three treys and the Eagles had a 15-10 lead going into the second quarter.

The game was physical, with both teams reaching the bonus by the 4:50 mark of the second quarter. Hodge continued his dominance with eight points in the frame to elevate the Jasper lead to 28-21 at the half. Hodge had 30 points for the game.

“He’s really progressing this year,” said Jasper Head Coach Chad Harris. “He is a great outside shooter, but he is continuing to evolve his inside game as well.”

The Eagles turned their game up a notch in the second half as they outscored Sarcoxie 18-13 in the third quarter.
