College Heights prep standout Kelsey Myers signed a letter of intent on Tuesday to play volleyball at Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan.

Labette is a member of the NJCAA conference. Kelsey has been a three-year varsity letter winner and starter and co-captain her senior year. She has had the top serving percentage on the team her junior and senior year.

Myers is the starting second baseman for the College Heights baseball team. She is the daughter of Brad and Margie Myers of Joplin.

"Kelsey is the kind of player that can come into a tight situation, keep a cool head and get the job done," said head volleyball coach Karla Gaines. "She has led our team for two years with her serve and I am looking forward to seeing her play at the next level."

Myers tied the school record for top serving percentage, and the top number of serving points for the team this season.

"I'm really looking forward to it," Myers said. "The head coach (Jennifer Ginn) was a student teacher (at College Heights) my sophomore year. She said she would really get me involved. That really motivated me to go there."

Ginn, in her first year as head coach, led the Lady Cardinals to a 13-27 record, a school record.

Myers, the daughter of Brad and Margie Myers, plans to major in elementary education.
