CARTHAGE, Mo. -

Citizens of Carthage,

I am in tears as I walk throughout the Human Society building looking at all the sweet cats, kittens, dogs and puppies longing so for a home. While I walk by, the thought of what will happen to them if they are not adopted haunts me. This makes the next step ever so hard to make. With tears building in my eyes, I want to stop walking but I don’t. I continue on my journey down row after row of animals looked over, as if of no importance. I hate the fact that for every animal that is adopted, there are others that are not. They wait in the cages for a second chance, but for some of them that second chance never comes. I gaze into the cage, I imagine myself in that spot. When I do, I feel as if I were completely helpless with no hope of being rescued. It kills me to know that millions of animals are not adopted from the Humane Societies all over the nation each year. All it takes to end that despair for the animals is to give them a second chance. Stop by the Humane Society today and adopt an animal. You’ll be glad you did.
