I know that everyone is tired of hearing the bickering and talk regarding politics.

I know that everyone is tired of hearing the bickering and talk regarding politics.
There are two daily emails regarding news that I don’t even open anymore because, it really isn’t news, just complaining about this party or that party. Enough said.
Fortunately, local “politics” isn’t that way. On April 3, Carthage residents and Carthage R9 residents will have not the opportunity, rather the responsibility, to cast votes for Carthage Mayor, Carthage City Council and Carthage R-9 School Board. Please do so.
For the first time in at least eight years, we have three individuals seeking the office of Mayor. Additionally, we have three very capable people seeking two seats on the Carthage R9 School Board. Also, there is one person running for each of the five seats on the City Council.
These are the individuals that represent us, working for the betterment of our City and Schools, so even though you have “only one vote,” it is an important one.
• On March 27, 2018, the Carthage Chamber of Commerce will host a local candidate forum for the Carthage Mayor candidates and the R-9 candidates. It will be held at the CWEP Community Room beginning at 7:15 a.m. You will have the opportunity to hear directly from the individuals running for these positions as well as speak to them one on one for your specific questions. I know that it is a few weeks off but mark it on your calendar now. You need to be there to become informed about your decision.
• A quick note about State Legislative information.
On Friday February 16, at 10:30 a.m., the Chamber will also host and Eggs and Issues. Our local State Senator and local Representatives will update everyone regarding the legislative issues in Missouri.
Reservations must be made by tomorrow, February 8.
Cost is $10 and includes brunch. For more information, contact the Chamber at 417-358-2373.
Make 2018 the year that your “one vote” really counted.
