James “Jim” Tullis, 77 of Carthage, passed away at 7:18 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 26, 1932, to James D. and Mary Francis “McDaniel” Tullis of rural Carthage, Mo. He worked as a machinist supervisor at Leggett & Platt, Inc. for over 30 years. He married Shirley Colleen Baugh on June 17, 1954, in Carthage, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 24, 2006.
Survivors include sons James M. Tullis of Oronogo, Mo., Cha’ Tullis of Hominy, Okla., and one daughter, Angelina Tullis of Dallas, Texas. Additional survivors include brothers Bill and Mona Tullis of Indiana, Chuck and Pauline Tullis of Houston, Texas, sister Loetta Thompson of Lamar, Mo., grandchildren Jim Bob and Tara Tullis of Atlanta, Ga., Charlie and Casey Tullis of Atchison, Kan., Sallem and Sheldon Tyler of Hominy, Okla., Tiercy and Gary Brown of Hominy, Okla., Chasin D. Tullis of Whiteman Air Force Base, Warrensburg, Mo., Leigh Yeager of New York City, N.Y., and Lauren Yeager of Kansas City, Mo. Other survivors include great-grandchildren Sydnie Tyler, Codie Brown, Sydona Tyler, and Kylie Brown, all of Hominy, Okla.
Graveside memorial services will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Hackney Cemetery.
