Juanita Ilene Wommack, 88, of Reeds-Avilla, Mo., passed away at 10:45 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1921 in Chesapeake, Mo. She was a lifetime Avilla Area Resident.
Juanita was the daughter of Noble Moore and Hazel “Pilling” Moore. She owned and operated the Moore & Wommack General Store from 1946-1972. She then worked for Smith Security of Carl Junction. Juanita was a member of the Extension Club in Avilla and a longtime member of the Rebeka Lodge of Avilla.
She married Harold J. Wommack on Oct. 11, 1944 in Pittsburg, Kan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1993.
Juanita was survived by two sons, George Wommack and wife Donna of Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Jim Wommack, Reeds, Mo.; one daughter Linda Carver and husband Donald, Carthage, Mo..; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Victor Wommack in September 2004 and two great-grandsons.
Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2009. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fasken Cemetery, Carthage.
Contributions may be made in her honor to the American Diabetes Association in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
