Donna “Darlene” Dilworth, 66, of Sarcoxie, Mo., went to be the Lord at 1 p.m. on February 1, 2010, following a courageous battle with cancer. 

Donna was born on Aug. 11, 1943, in Sarcoxie, the daughter of Lee M. Hirshey and Lois E. (Lockhart) Hirshey. She lived and worked in the Carthage and Diamond, Mo. area all of her life. Growing up, she shared her love for music with her father and sisters, playing the guitar and singing on stage. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook. Throughout her life she was active in teaching Sunday school classes at her church and teaching on the “Joy” bus. Later, she raised and homeschooled two of her grandchildren, Tekyla and Corey Carpenter. She was a member of the Mount Hope Church of Christ and also attended the College Heights Christian Church. 

She married Jack L. Dilworth on April 1, 1961, in Miami, Okla. He survives at the home. Additional survivors include: Her children, Kim Dilworth, Sarcoxie, Rob Dilworth and wife Lorie, Carthage, Mo., and Angela Dilworth, Paxton, Kan.; her mother, Lois Hirshey, Scott Depot, West Va.; two sisters, Connie Dee, Augusta, Ks., and Deanna Hirshey, Scott Depot, W. Va.; five grandchildren, Tekyla Carpenter, Corey Carpenter, Marissa Dilworth, Jessica Dilworth and Marie Dilworth; and many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Hirshey; a sister, Vryla Howe; and a nephew Greg Price.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel. Randy Gariss will officiate. Burial will be in Powers Cemetery, near Diamond, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010, at the mortuary. The casket will remain closed at all times. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Compassus in care of the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.
