Lester Lionel VanZandt, 71, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at his home in Carthage, Mo. 

He was born July 29, 1938, in Russellville, Ark., the son of Lester S. VanZandt and Thelma C. (McKnight) VanZandt. His parents preceded him in death. A brother, David Larry VanZandt and a sister Lou Ann Vestal, also preceded him in death. He was a 1956 graduate of Central High School, Tulsa, Okla. He attended Tulsa University, Northeastern State University of Oklahoma and Washburn University. He was retired from Schreiber Foods where he had been a sanitarian. 

Four daughters, Vicky Jo Ivie, Sorrento, Fla., Velda Ann Patton, Carthage, Vonetta Carol Schiffman, Tulsa, Okla., Vana Lynn Motley, Olathe, Kan., 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him.

 Private family services will be held at a later date.
