CARTHAGE, Mo. -

Eunice Jane Yates, age 89, Carthage, Mo., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 at McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital, Carthage.

Eunice was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Jericho Springs, Mo., to the late William and Zona Farmer.
 

On Jan. 1, 1938, Eunice was united in marriage to Charles Lee Yates in Lockwood, Missouri. Charles and Eunice were married for over 50 years.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1990.
  

Eunice worked for Rhineharts Grocery and later A & P as a checker for many years.  She enjoyed all the people she met and she made a lot of friends through the grocery business. She enjoyed and cherished all those friendships. She was a long time member of the Fairview Christian Church. She was a proud Republican and member of the Lincoln Ladies. She also participated in Eastern Star and was a Past Patron. She planned and coordinated dinner Theater bus trips for the Extension Club until she retired last year at the age of 88. She enjoyed Saturday card games with Surviving Spouses, and was a member of Golden Reflections.
Eunice is survived and blessed with six children: Charlene Jo McDaniel, husband Bob of Carthage, William Dale Yates, wife Sue, Nixa, Mo., Sara Ann Biles, husband Larry of Manhattan Kan., Connie Yates Brown, Tulsa, Okla, Sherry Jane Vaughan, husband Mike, Carl Junction, Mo., and Gary Wayne Yates, wife Cindy of Springfield, Mo; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Warren Lee of Greenfield, Mo.  
 

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister Hazel Evans, and baby daughter at birth.
 

Pallbearers will be: Pete Metcalf, Bob Hess, John Stark, Troy White, Tom Gilbreath and Ronnie Stiles.
 

Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel.  Officiating will be Boyce Mouton, Minister.  Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 pm, Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Ulmer Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Park Cemetery.
