April Jean (Saferite) Thornton, 48, passed away at 9:38 p.m., Wednesday Aug. 13, 2008, at her home in Carthage, Mo.
She was born Sept. 7, 1959, in Carthage, Mo., the daughter of Calvin Lee Saferite and Georgia (Sproul) Saferite. Her parents preceded her in death.
She attended Carthage area schools.
She had been a nurse’s aide for the McCune-Brooks Hospital and the Buena Vista Nursing Home. She was also a painter’s helper for Howard Buick and Grundy’s Body Shop.
Two daughters, Christina Thornsbrough, Carthage, Mo., Amy Kresyman, Carl Junction, Mo., a son, Erik Thornton, Carthage, Mo., two stepsons, Roger Thornton Jr., Carthage, Mo., Chris Thornton and wife Rebecca, Carl Junction, Mo., a sister, Debra June Saferite, Carthage, Mo., two brothers, Frank Lee Saferite and wife Betty, Carthage, Mo., Jim Saferite and wife Shirley, Joplin, Mo., and four grandchildren, Tajarae Bruenn, Reyhan Kresyman, Kaidyn Kreyman and Skylar Hobbs survive her.
The body has been cremated. A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at the Oak Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Platt will officiate.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Knell Mortuary.
