Harmon W. Arnold passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Buchanan Meadows, Buchanan, Mich. He was 92.
 
Harmon was born March 23, 1918, to Walter R. and Clara H. Arnold, longtime South Bend/Roseland, Ind., residents. Preceding him in death were his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Grace (Padgett), and a sister, Gertrude Anne Lee of Destin, Fla. He is survived by sons Joel Walter Arnold of Dayton, Ohio, and Jon Harmon Arnold (Carol), of South Bend, Ind.; daughter Jill Anne Dacey (Raymond) of Moscow, Idaho; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Harmon graduated from Purdue University in 1938 with a BS in Chemical Engineering. He served in the US Army during WWII as Ordinance Officer attached to the Air Corps integrating ordinance on the A-26. He achieved the rank of Major. Harmon spent 18 years with the Studebaker/Packard Corp, reaching the position of Chief Engineer of the Automotive Division, then served for 17 years as Chief Engineer of Fex-O-Lators, Inc. in Carthage, Mo., where the family lived from 1967 to 2005. He also held several patents from both his military service and his civilian careers. There are no services planned.
