Freda Violetta Hayden, 88, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at 9:10 p.m. at the St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, Mo.
Mrs. Hayden was born Aug. 17, 1920, in Pope Township, Ill., the daughter of Elza L. Sharp and Lula C. (Skaggs) Sharp. Her parents preceded her in death. Her husband, Archie R. Brown, six brothers, and one sister also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post # 1739, Belleville, Ill. She came to Joplin from St. Charles, Mo., in 1998.
Her sons: Dennis L. Brown, Carthage, Mo., Gary R. Brown, St. Louis, Mo.: two brothers: Francis Sharp, Centralia, Ill., Darrel Sharp, Vernon, Ill.; three sisters: Betty Nelson, Ontario, Calif., Lela Briley, Joplin, Mo., Velma Trisler, Alta Loma, Calif.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren survive her.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at 10 a..m. the St. David’s Chapel at the St. Luke’s Nursing Center, Carthage, Mo. The Rev. Ted Estes will officiate.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Knell Mortuary.
