FARSON, Wyo. -

Emmett Opal Griffin Jr., 81, of 46 Griffinsville Loop, Farson, Wyo., passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2008.

A longtime resident of Farson, Wyo., and resident of Medoc, Mo., Mr. Griffin passed away following a lengthy illness.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1926, in Carterville, Mo., the son of the late Emmett Opal and Victoria Belle Hicks Griffin, Sr.

Mr. Griffin attended schools in Carterville, Mo.

He was married to Annabel Sailor for 25 years and later divorced.

Mr. Griffin served in the United States Army during World II.

He worked as a farmer and rancher and was employed by the Bureau of Reclamation from 1961 to 1967. He retired in 1978.

His interests included fishing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include five sons, Stephen Griffin and wife Renae, Matt Griffin and wife Sheri, Dan Griffin and wife Teri, Shannon Griffin and wife Brooke and Chris Griffin and wife Regina all of Farson, Wyo.; five daughters Vicky Griffin of Rock Springs, Wyo., April Ludwig and husband Mike of Rock Springs, Wyo., Janie Jones and husband Troy of Rock Springs, Wyo., Andrea Griffin of Farson, Wyo., and Heather Albrecht and husband Randy of Fruita, Colo.; one brother Dennis Griffin and wife Elaine of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters Joan Paradowski of San Antonio, Texas, and Camille Niel and husband Lyle of Carterville, Mo.; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and several aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons Larry and Gary Griffin; two sisters Mary and Dorothy; one brother Jim; two grandsons Jason James and Steve Daniel and one granddaughter Amanda May.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at the Farson Community Hall in Farson, Wyo.

Military graveside services will be at the Eden Valley Cemetery in Farson.

Friends may call one hour prior to services.
