Walter W. Gonce, 85, of 13439 West Gable Hill Drive, died at home on Jan. 14, 2010.

He grew up in Baxter Springs, Kan., and was a graduate of Kansas University. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theatre from 1942 to 1946 and spent most of his life as a banker in Kansas City and Belton, Mo., and retired as President and CEO of Boatmen’s Bank of Carthage, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter and is survived by his sister, Cleo, Margaret, his wife of 44 years, seven children, 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Desert Palm Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in his name to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1161, Sun City, Ariz., 85372.
