CARTHAGE, Mo. -

Beverly “Bev” Roeber, 74, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 5:45 a.m. at the Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center after a six month illness.

She was born June 29, 1933, in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of John and Bertie (Young) Robinson.

She married Amos “The Barber” Roeber on May 9, 1948, in Bentonville, Ark. He preceded her in death on Feb. 10, 2002.

She is survived by two daughters, Dixie Clayton of the home, Brenda Huff and her husband Steve, of Downers’ Grove, Ill., one son, Steve Roeber and companion, Mitchell Cox, Marietta, Ga., one granddaughter, Cindy Clayton and friend, Brenda Keener, of Carthage, Mo., one grandson, Tim Clayton, State of Missouri; four great- grandchildren, Gabrielle Clayton, Brooke Clayton, State of Missouri, Buddy Sallee, Matthew Sallee, both of Carthage, Mo.; three sisters, Bertie Smith and Jean Rosenburg, both of Joplin, Mo., Evelyn Graves, State of Washington, and her beloved puppy Izzy.

She was also preceded in death by two infant daughters, one brother, Jack Robinson and one sister Flo Rethage.

She attended Joplin R-8 Schools and was a lifelong resident of Joplin and Carthage.
She worked as an Avon Representative in the early 1960’s and for Six’s Sport Shop from 1974 to 1978. She also worked for Flex-O-Lators off and on again from 1964 until she retired in 1995.

She was a Life Member of the Carthage VFW Post 2590 Ladies’ Auxiliary where she held the office of historian.

She enjoyed fishing, playing cards, casinos, horse racing and spending time with family and friends.

She was the greatest mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend anyone could ever ask for.

She will be truly loved and missed by all her family and friends. She will forever live on inside all who knew her.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Knell Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 10, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Knell Mortuary Chapel.

Interment will be in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, Mo.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Bev to the American Cancer Society, the VFW Post 2590 Ladies’ Auxiliary, or Children’s Mercy Hospital in Care of the Knell Mortuary.
