JOPLIN, Mo. -

Lillian “Maxine” Taylor, loving wife, mother and grandmother was  born March 15, 1929.

She died Tuesday May 6, 2008, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center after a short illness.  She was born to William (Bill) and Annie Elizabeth Sloniker. Both parents preceded her in death. 

On June 7, 1947, she married her first love Harley Leroy Long in Carthage, Mo., he preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2004.  Then on Jan. 19, 2008, she married Robert Taylor of Carterville, Mo. He survives. She enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. She really enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Congregation of Carterville.

Additional survivors include three sons, Harley Long and wife Elaine of Maple Grove, Minn., Roger Long and wife Joy of Joplin, Russell Long and wife Julie of Bonney Lake, Wash.; one daughter, Shirley Fowler and husband Joe of Carterville, Mo.; two brothers, Joe Sloniker of Nevada, Mo., William(Bill) Sloniker of Carthage, Mo.; three sisters, Alberta Hefley of Knoxville, Ark., Fern Ladesic of Oskaloosa, Kan., Lola Sloniker of Carthage, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. 

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Brother Steve Lichtenauer will officiate. Private burial will be at Stone Cemetery near Diamond, Mo.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Chapel.
