Delores J. “Dee” Behrend, age 80, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Barton County Memorial Hospital.

Dee was born July 24, 1928, at Redbank, Pa., one of the two daughters of George and Lavina (Reesman) Blose. As a small child, she moved with her family to Hubbard, Ohio, where she graduated from high school and later earned a degree in education from Ohio State University. 

Dee married Richard H. Behrend at Columbus, Ohio, and they lived in several locations before settling in New Jersey in 1968. In addition to being a homemaker, Dee taught in New Jersey schools.  She was an avid golfer who loved animals and enjoyed gardening.  She recently moved to Lamar to be near family and attended Full Faith Church of Carthage.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Richard & Bonnie Behrend, Lamar, Dr. Jeff & Patti Behrend, Marlton, N.J., Michel & Sheila Behrend, Eastampton, N.J.; a daughter, Bonnie Behrend, Aspen, Colo.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don & Betty McElrath, Put-In-Bay, Ohio; nine grandchildren, M.G., Matt, John, Derek, David, Kristen, Kelly, Katie, & Kimberly; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jolie, and Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and her sister, Gladine.

 Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, at Daniel Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time.
