CARTHAGE, Mo. -

Ethel (Sally) Welch, 90, Carthage, went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2008, after a brief illness. 

She was a graduate of Carthage High School, Class of 1934 and attended Joiner Business College, Carthage.  After raising her family she was employed by Belk-Simpson, Carthage, where she was a skilled seamstress recognized for her fine tailoring. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, east of Carthage. Ethel enjoyed life to the fullest. Her family and friends were everything to her and she never met a stranger.

She is survived by seven of her children; Virginia “Ginger” and Jack Mock, Lenexa, Kan.; Kenneth “Bill” and Sunny Welch, Alba, Texas; Joyce and Larry Cawood, Longview, Texas; Judy and Dennis Holmes, Lexington, Texas; Midge and Joe Brown, Bentonville, Ark.; Bruce Welch, Joplin, Mo; Alice and John Lewandowski, Joplin, Mo; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dora Belle Winans, Reeds, Mo., and a sister-in-law, Delores Arner, Carthage, Mo. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Alice Skelton, her husband, Kenneth and a son, Herman.

Visitation will be held at noon, Friday, April 25, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. 

Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fullerton Cemetery, Carthage.
