Mary Caroline Anthony, 92, Carthage, MO passed away Sunday, January 17, 2010 in St. John’s Regional Medical Center, Joplin. Mary Anthony was born July 24, 1917 in Carthage, the daughter of George W. Harp and Mary Elizabeth (Sibman) Harp. She attended Carthage Public Schools, was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Carthage and the Pythian Sisters, Carthage. She worked at the Carthage Egg Plant and later was a domestic housekeeper in Carthage, Webb City and Carterville, MO. On August 29, 1938, Mary Harp married Ernest S. Nichols; he preceded her in death in 1964. On May 4, 1972, she married Luther Anthony; he preceded her in death on August 10, 1976,
Survivors include a daughter, Deloris Nimsick, husband, Raymond, Sarcoxie; three sons, Danny R. Nichols, wife, Brenda, Carl Junction, Robert L. Nichols, Carthage and David W. Nichols, Carthage; three grandchildren, Susan Geiss, Michael Nimsick and Chad Nichols; three great grandchildren, Daniel Geiss, Katie Geiss and Austin Nichols. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, six sisters, Olive Wamsley, Leona Greninger, Olga Curry, Irene Greninger, Pearl Studyvin and Ruth Porter; three brothers, Leonard Harp, Leroy Harp and Woodrow Harp; two grandchildren. Her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews were the love of her life.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 21, at the Bible Baptist Church, Chestnut & Baker, Carthage, MO. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 22 in Park Cemetery, Carthage. Pastor Kent Hogan, Bible Baptist Church, will officiate. Memorial gifts are suggested to the Bible Baptist Church in care of Knell Mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, MO.
