Shirley D. Vigil, 81, of Carthage, passed away at 4:39 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at McCune-Brooks Regional Hospital.

She was born on April 30, 1928, in Oskaloosa, Mo.

Shirley was the daughter of William Henry Kirksey and Mary Lucille Mosier Kirksey. She owned and operated her own business for several years in Junction City, Kan. 

 Shirley married George Vigil on March 19, 1971 in Salina, Kan. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2002.

She is survived by one son Mitch Miles of Lamar, Mo.; two daughters, Marilyn Snider of Pittsburg, Kan., and Anita Callahan of Rogers, Ark.; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services for Shirley will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at The Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is open. Interment will follow the service at the Shiloh Cemetery, NW of Lamar, Mo.
