Charliene Aldridge, age 81, Joplin, passed away on June 10, 2009, at Silver Creek Assisted Living.
She was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Carthage, Mo. Charliene was the daughter of Louis Frey and Ona “Roller” Frey. She was a graduate of Carthage Sr. High School. She had worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She also had worked as a secretary for both Fairview Elementary School in Carthage and MSSU in Joplin.
She married her soul mate, Bill Aldridge on Oct. 22, 1949. He preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 1969.
She is survived by one son, Joe Aldridge and wife, Toni of Carthage; one daughter, Sue Annesser and husband, Larry of Diamond, Mo.; one sister Gloria McNeece and husband Bill of Sarcoxie; one granddaughter, Becca Aldridge; and one nephew, Matt McNeece of Sarcoxie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; three brothers, Kenneth Frey, Dutch Frey and Ray Frey; and two sisters, Velma Russell and Lilly Mae Frey.
She loved her family more than anything and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved gardening and many times told her family, “When God made Adam and Eve, he didn’t put them behind a computer, he put them in a garden.” Her yard was her sanctuary and the time she devoted to it was her way of worshiping and praising the Lord.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, June 12, 2009, at Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2009, at Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage.
