Roy J. Evans, 82, Carthage, Mo., passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010, in St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo. 

Roy J. Evans was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Springfield, Mo., the son of Roy William Evans and Mabel(Fredrick) Evans. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving in the Military Police. He married Ruth Annalee Parrish on Sept. 5, 1948.She preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 2003. 

Roy was a powder line supervisor for Atlas Powder Co., retiring after 37 years of service. He was a realtor for

Stockwell Real Estate, later known as Max Hahnen Realty.  After his retirement he worked for Spot - Not Car Wash on south Garrison, which became Hurricane Car Wash. His favorite activities were golfing, fishing and supporting the St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Team. He also coached his son's little league team for several seasons.

Roy was a greeter at BYKOTA Church, which he enjoyed very much because he loved people. He had many friends and was a wonderful father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include four daughters, Ronna Grimes, (Jim), Louisberg, Kan., Regina Shank, (Mick), Carthage, Mo., Connie Carter, (Galen), Carthage, Mo., and Karen Perry, Raymore, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and one son, Rocky Lynn Evans.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010, in the Knell Mortuary Chapel, Carthage, Mo. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, at the BYKOTA Church, south of Carthage. Rev. Darryl Woolery will officiate. Committal services will be held in Park Cemetery, Carthage. 

Memorial gifts are suggested to Hope City, 8009 Greenwald,

Belton, Mo., 64012 or Main Street Food Pantry, P.O. Box 732, Carthage, Mo. 64836.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
