John J. Reiss, Diamond, 65, passed away on March 24, 2018
Born on Nov. 9, 1952, he spent his days of youth in St. Louis, Mo. He married Sue Morgan in October, 1989 and spent several of their married years in Pipestone, Minn. They moved to Diamond, Mo in 2005 and he retired from Schreiber Foods Inc., Carthage.
He carried the knowledge of stats on any baseball game and the lyrics to any rock and roll song to add humor to conversations. He also shared his political views to add humor or just to stir up a ruckus.
His days were spent listening to Cardinals games on the radio or camping or boating on Bull Shoals lake, playing vinyl records to hear the real sound of good music, driving on country roads, naming dogs on his route for cheap entertainment. His favorite Cardinal was Stan Musial, he loved The Who and NPR Radio.
Johnny Boy was a great brother, husband, father, uncle and friend and is held dearly to everyone's heart.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Reiss, in 2010 and his father and mother, Stan Reiss and Hilda Oswald Reiss.
Survivors include a son, Keith Reiss, and fiancée, Kenzie McAlister; three sisters, Helen Reiss, Marilyn Rusznak and Jeannie Nagle, of St. Louis; and two brothers, Stan Reiss, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Joe Reiss, O'Fallon, Mo.
The Celebration of Life for John J. Reiss will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 7 at Skinners Pottery, 19009 Aspen Road, Diamond.
Those who can attend are asked to wear red because of John's love for his hometown team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
