Carl R. Bridges, 94, believing in Jesus Christ as his Savior, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to the late Carl and Nellie Bridges. Most of his years were lived in Carthage, Missouri.
Carl is survived by his wife Vida A. (Wolfe) Bridges, sons Jerry Bridges and Jack Bridges, daughter Judy (Bridges) Crawford, and sister Patricia Turner. Also surviving him are beloved grandchildren, Kristen and Ashley, Julie, Brad and Dustin; and great-grandchildren Maddie, Alice, and Evan; Sydney, Millie and Kallie; Brittany, Blake and Peyton; Liam and Lucas: as well as nieces and dear friends.
Carl retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 38 years of faithful service. He especially enjoyed working with God’s Creation in the form of trees and plants. He owned and operated Bridges Christmas Tree Farms for over 50 years. He also received Master Gardener recognition.
Carl served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II in Europe. He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. In 1984 he retired from the U. S Army Reserve.
The family is honoring his wish that his body be donated for scientific research. Any remains will be cremated and the family will inter the ashes on a beautiful day this Spring at Jasper Cemetery.
