Jewell Thomas “Tom” McJunkins, 60 years old, passed away on Jan. 18, 2017 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill.

Jewell Thomas “Tom” McJunkins, 60 years old, passed away on Jan. 18, 2017 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, Ill. He was born on March 7, 1956 in Phoenix, Ariz., to Charles and Loretta (Long) McJunkins.
Tom grew up in Madera, Calif., and attended Madera High School.
After high school, he joined the Coast Guard in 1972 and served for four years, then worked as an electrical engineer. Tom worked for several companies and held different job titles, including maintenance supervisor, plant manager, and general plant manager.
Tom enjoyed fishing, playing music, singing, playing guitar, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Tom is survived by his parents; Charles and Loretta McJunkins of Pickens, S.C., his children; two sons, John Paul McJunkins and Paula Danley of Carthage, Mo., and Matthew McJunkins and AJ of Sherman Oaks, Calif., one daughter; Heather McJunkins of Carthage, Mo. His siblings; three sisters Cindy and Jim Moore of Pickens, S.C., Laura McJunkins of Pickens, S.C., and Lisa and Paul Murphy of Easley, S.C., and one brother Steven McJunkins of Florida, 10 grandchildren; Raelyne McJunkins-Macias, John and Imelda McJunkins, Angelica McJunkins-Macias, Hunter McJunkins, Gavino McJunkins-Macias, Carlos McJunkins-Macias, Thomas McJunkins-Macias, Mary McJunkins, Brenda McJunkins, Daniel McJunkins, and a great-grandchild due in March, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Carthage, Mo., at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 26, 2017. Reception will follow at Ulmer Funeral Home community room.
