Douglas DeWayne Shields, 42, Miller, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at his home after a short illness.

Douglas Shields was born March 31, 1967, in Carthage, Mo., the son of John Mansfield Shields and Glenda Root (Duncan) Shields. He was a graduate of Miller High School, a self employed carpenter, loved fishing and spending time with his daughter, Brittany.

Survivors include his daughter, Brittany Shields, Greenfield, Mo.; his mother, Glenda Root Shields, Miller, Mo.; his father, John M. Shields, Squire, Mo.; and two brothers, Johnny Shields and Mark Shields, Miller, Mo.

Visitation will be held from 1–1:45 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at the Stone Bible Church, Rescue, Mo. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Minister Rueben Smith will officiate.

Pallbearers will be DeWayne Duncan, Joie Phelps, Danny Weaver, Gerald Lee, Chuck Lee and Galan Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Shields, Paul Mitchell, Carlan Lee, Mike Huntzinger, Josh Layne and London Lee. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery, Rescue, Mo. 

Memorial gifts are suggested to Knell Mortuary, 308 W. Chestnut, Carthage, Mo., 64836, to help with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
