The Carthage Spikers, a 12-year-old competitive youth volleyball team, finished second in the Heart of America Silver Regionals in Kansas City, Mo., on April 9-10
The Spikers entered the tournament ranked third out of 140 silver-level teams. The Spikers, after knocking off the top-ranked team, fell to the second-ranked team in a close, three-game match.
The Spikers, concluding a stellar season, captured first place in all eight of their regular-season games, and took home gold in a 13-year-old tournament, finishing with an exceptional 103-7 record.
“The girls worked very hard all season and played outstanding, especially at regionals,” recounted coach Chally Downing. “I am proud of what the girls accomplished this season.”
Team members are: Brooke Guidie, Marley Hensley, Kiley Tiller, Savannah Downing, Rylee Parrish, Navy Thompson, Madison Burt and Zoe Renfro.
