A Carthage man was arrested Friday in a home in the north part of Carthage for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl.
Calixtro Vega, 21, faces an immigration detainer and one count of second degree statutory rape in the alleged April 1 assault.
Vega is being held without bond as an illegal alien.
Carthage police said they received information on Friday pertaining to a 16-year-old girl who had allegedly been sexually assaulted by Vega.
Police investigated and Vega was arrested at 3:54 p.m. Friday at a home in the north part of Carthage on an immigration detainer.
Vega was taken to the Jasper County Jail where he is being held.
