Carthage residents have the chance to support the 2012 Project Graduation and wear a cool shirt at the same time.

New T-shirts are available in a fundraiser for the graduating Carthage High School senior class. Each class in the high school, teachers and staff and parents all have a themed shirt with a designated color. Seniors' shirts say “Get Excited,” juniors' shirts say “Get Tough,” sophomores' shirts say “Get Ready,” freshmen's shirts say “Get Started,” teachers/staff shirts say “Get Educated,” and parents' shirts say “Get Involved.”

“I think they're neat and a good idea,” said Patty Coss, one of the organizers of Project Graduation. “This is the first time shirts like this have been made for Project Graduation, and we'll start getting them out there for people to see.”

Each shirt is $10, and the proceeds go toward the graduating students' end-of-the-year party. Coss said the shirt sales will continue until graduation day, which is set for May 15.

“A lot of people are involved in their students' activities in one form or another but this is a way to help all of the seniors,” she said. “I think Project Graduation is a great way to celebrate their achievement. It's something they can all look forward to, and it's a great way for them all to be together on their graduation night.”

As a mother of three CHS students, Ashley and Allie, senior twins, and freshman Jaryd, Coss said she was proud to help sell the shirts, especially since Ashley designed them.

“We got the idea from another school, but Ashley specialized them for this year,” Coss said. “She loves making shirts for all kinds of events.”

Anyone interested in a shirt, may call Coss at 359-3449. The shirts will also be sold in the commons area at the high school during lunch and other after-school activities.
