St. Luke's Nursing Center embraced National Activities Professional Week (Jan. 23-27).

Residents, their families and the staff at St. Luke's were busy having fun all week with a series of activities, which was also enjoyed across the nation. Stacy Bennett, activities director for the center, was all smiles on Thursday, which was Fiesta Day. The Grace Episcopal Church's mariachi band performed, and chips, dip and margaritas were served to the residents.

“They've been celebrating all weeklong,” Bennett said, having to speak louder over the music. “I like it – I like to keep busy.”

Monday was “hillbilly day,” Tuesday was “crazy day,” Wednesday was “50's day,” Thursday was “fiesta day,” and Friday was “Hawaiian luau day.” One of the many residents listening to the band on Thursday, Twila Ferguson, was applauding the performance.

“I'm enjoying it immensely,” she said with a happy smile. “They're very talented.”
