The Salvation Army of Carthage is gearing up to help out with the annual Tools 4 School program.
“In past years we’ve been able to assist many children and we hope this year will be no exception,” said Bess Wilkes. “We are in need of contributions from the community to help us fill the children’s backpacks.”
Salvation Army officials are urging for donations of backpacks (no wheels, please) along with paper, pencils, pens, Kinder Mats, Dry Erase markers, bottles of glue, erasers, etc.
“In year’s past we’ve had to purchase many of the required items, so cash donations are also appreciated.”
Please bring donations to 125 E. Fairview by July 20, or come by for registration or applications for the backpacks and all required school supplies for grades Kindergarten through 7th grade. To register, the head of the household must bring in their own photo I.D. Folks inside the towns/school districts of Avilla, Arcola, Carthage, Dadeville, Everton, Greenfield, Jasper and south Greenfield will be accepted. Registration begins from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 6 and runs through Friday, July 17.
For any questions, please contact Wilkes at 358-2262.
