In about a month, Carthage’s annual fall attraction – Maple Leaf Days – will begin for its eight-day run packed full of events geared for all ages.
The 42nd edition of the Maple Leaf Festival will start Saturday, Oct 11, and will conclude Saturday, Oct. 18. The theme this year is “Reflections of a Rich Heritage.” All parade floats and entries are encouraged to incorporate that theme in the design.
A change this year will be the 2nd Annual Boots, Bands and BBQ on the first day of the festival. Last year, it was on the final day. The show actually kicks off the festival and it will feature Nashville artist Mark Wills. It will be held at the Royal Oaks Arena.
Also on the opening day will be the Carthage High School Alumni Football Contest, and the Maple Leaf Queen, Little Miss and Mister and Junior Miss pageants.
The final day of the festival is traditionally the biggest day. On that day will be the Maple Leaf Parade, the auto show, the kids dog show, the Fire Department Pancake Feed, Brats on the Square, and the Marching Band Festival.
