CARTHAGE – “The deadline for entering the 2008 Maple Leaf Parade is nearly upon us,” reported Scott Rosenthal of the Carthage Chamber of Commerce Maple Leaf Committee. “All entries must be in the Chamber office by closing on Tuesday, Sept. 30.”

The parade has a maximum entry capacity of 200 and there are still some spaces available. This year’s Maple Leaf Festival theme of “Reflections of a Rich Heritage” offers a tremendous opportunity for those decorating floats and vehicles for participation in the parade. In addition to the usual fall decorations, this year’s theme encourages a focus on the community’s rich heritage.

Entry in the parade is free for civic groups and individuals, $50 for commercial entries, and $25 for political entries. Attendance ranges from 50,000 traditionally to 65,000 last year and draws from throughout the four state area as well as annual visitors from states throughout the U.S.  There will be no last-minute arrival participants in this year’s parade. Only those who have registered by Sept. 30th will be included in the parade.

Forms are available at Southwest Missouri Bank locations and the Chamber office. Completed entries and payment where applicable should be mailed, faxed, or delivered to the Chamber office no later than Sept. 30t
