U.S. Bank said today it will donate $100,000 to assist with Joplin tornado relief and rebuilding efforts. U.S. Bancorp will contribute $50,000 to the Community Foundation of Southwest Missouri - Joplin Recovery Fund, $25,000 to the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross and $25,000 to the United Way. U.S. Bank Joplin area branches are also collecting donations for the Greater Ozarks Chapter of the American Red Cross.
“We recognize the magnitude of rebuilding while helping to clean up, but know the spirit and tenacity of everyone will come together to do so,” said Clifford Wert, U.S. Bank Joplin region president. “We are here to assist with financial relief as our families and friends pick up the pieces, and take part in healing and restoration of our close-knit community.”
Wert said that U.S. Bank’s mobile branch and ATM are currently located outside the South YMCA at 3404 West McIntosh Circle. The bank has been working with customers who are in need of replacing financial cards or documentation that may have been swept away or shuffled among the debris, as well as providing consumer and small business emergency loans. Those who’ve lost their U.S. Bank account information in the tornado are requested to call 1-800-USBANKS (1-800-872-2657) or come to their nearest U.S. Bank branch to make necessary arrangements.
"Many people are dealing with both the emotional and financial concerns of seeing their homes and businesses severely damaged," said Wert. "With this disaster assistance program, U.S. Bank can help people or business owners find the money for repairs and other needs, so at least the immediate financial difficulties from the disaster are eased.” U.S. Bank is working with some of those who were affected apply for special loan programs until their insurance funds are available. Existing customers who had loans or lines of credit that were affected by the tornado may be eligible for account extensions.
