When visiting New York City, one of the top things to see is the Empire State Building.
Not only will Kari Kaughman see the Empire State Building this fall, but she will be attending college in the family facility.

Kari, the 8th ranked academic senior at Carthage High School this year, will attend Kings College in New York City and will major in Politics, Philosophy and Economics with a focus on the media.

“I fell in love with the school during my sophomore year and God has opened doors so I can go,” said Kaughman. “I really feel called into the ministry on a larger scale. I will use my degree in my ministry effort.

The daughter of Roger and Holly Kaughman has lived in Carthage all her life, so she has made lifelong friends at CHS.

“I will remember the silly times I had in high school,” said Kari. “I was in show choir and theater and we had a lot of those times.

“Specifically, during my senior year, I was in ‘Grease’ and that was a very exciting time for me,” said Kari. “But what I remember most of all is that on opening night I got my college acceptance letter and I was screaming bloody murder in the auditorium lobby.”

The one work that Kari uses to describe the thought of her being in the last graduating class in the current building is “victorious.”

“I’m really glad to be in the last graduating class from this building,” said Kari  “It is a neat honor.”

Kari has had many people who have provided welcome direction in her life. She cites her church youth leaders has having the most amount of influence on her life.
Looking 20 years down the road, Kari sees herself married and “traveling across the country in my career.

“I want my classmate to remember me as the one they could always go to if they needed anything or have a problem,” she continued.
