CARTHAGE, Mo. -

WHO: The Alliance of Southwest Missouri and the Buckle Up Squad

WHAT: The Alliance of Southwest Missouri and the Buckle Up Squad will provide juniors and seniors of Carthage High School an alternative to drinking and substance abuse. At this lock in there will be a lot of activities for the teens to do. Some of the activities include: Guitar Hero, Ping Pong Tournament, Sand Volleyball, Dodgeball, watch Movies, Play a giant game of twister, and racquetball.

WHEN: Saturday, May 3rd, 12 am- 6 am

WHERE: Fair Acres Family YMCA

WHY: Prom night is one of the scariest nights for schools and parents. Not because of the high amounts of traffic involved, but because of the availability of alcohol for local teenagers. The Alliance is doing a project prom to help keep the juniors and seniors in our community safe.

OTHER INFO: We can assure the parents and the community that there will be the appropriate amount of brave adult volunteers at this all night event.

• We are hoping that this project will be a community wide effort to help keep our teens safe. If people within the community would like to donate some sealed snack foods or sealed drinks. Donors can take their donations to the Fair Acres Family YMCA and put Project Prom on the item.

• We are expecting at least 100-150 juniors and seniors.

• We are going to be having a Parent Information Meeting at the Carthage High School in Ms. Wilson’s Room (room) on Thursday Night at 7 pm.
