Weather permitting, the new David Haffner Stadium will host its first Commencement exercises on Thursday with the graduation of the Class of 2018.
Gates open at the stadium at 6 p.m. for graduation, which will start at 7:30 p.m.
School officials say Haffner Stadium’s artificial turf field gives more flexibility to hold graduation outdoors if rain falls in the days before graduation, but backup plans are still in place to hold graduation in the CHS Gymnasium if weather threatens at the time of the event. Officials say if graduation has to be moved indoors, each senior will be allowed six tickets for family and close friends. Students can request up to three more tickets that will be distributed from unused tickets turned back in by other seniors. Seniors will practice for indoor graduation at 1:30 p.m. today.
Thursday is a busy day for the seniors, with the senior breakfast, cap and gown photos and the senior walk starting at 7:45 a.m. at the high school.
Outdoor practice will be held at Haffner Stadium Thursday morning as well.
Seniors will arrive at the annex gym to line up for the walk to Haffner Stadium at 6:30 p.m.
