A Carthage artist has set up a display to remember the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks at Southwest Missouri Bank near the Square in Carthage. Also on the 16th anniversary of these terrible attacks, Retired Carthage Fire Chief John Cooper spoke at a ceremony to honor first responders at the Crowder College Webb City Campus.

Employees with Southwest Missouri Bank along with city and county officials join artist and veteran Larry Glaze in unveiling the 2017 version of his display honoring those lost in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

The remembrance will be on display at the downtown Carthage SMB branch through the month of September.

Carthage Mayor Mike Harris read a proclamation and Glaze explained that the exhibit includes a poster with the names and pictured of each of the 343 New York City firefighters who died, a piece of the debris from the collapse of the Twin Towers and a sculpture he made honoring the lives lost that day.
