Penny Rae Hilke, 55, of Freeburg, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at her residence.

Penny Rae Hilke, 55, of Freeburg, passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at her residence. She was born December 27, 1961, in Chillicothe, a daughter of the late John and Kathy (Garlick) Dillard. On December 31, 2001, Penny was united in marriage to Laron Hilke, he survives at the home. She was a 1980 graduate of Chillicothe High School, worked as a secretary for the Missouri Sate Water Patrol, and at the State Capitol. Penny had currently been working alongside her husband for Hilke’s Ice Company in Freeburg, Missouri. Penny was a member of the Southwestern Ice Association, Missouri Valley Ice Association, and Great Lakes Ice Association. She enjoyed cooking, baking, NASCAR, was named Lady Elks of the year Lodge #513 in 1996 and was a huge KC Chiefs and Royals fan. Penny had a passion for Christmas and decorating Christmas trees and loved to travel with her husband, especially to Texas. Along with her husband, she is survived by her children: Katie Rae West of Vienna and Zachary John West of Meta; uncle: Joe Dillard (Betty) of Columbia; father and mother-in-law: John and Marie Hilke of Freeburg. Penny was preceded in death by her parents: Kathy Dillard on May 5, 2000 and John Dillard on June 28, 2017. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July13, 2017, at the Hilke-Millard Funeral Home in Westphalia. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, with Fr. Bill Debo officiating. Interment will follow in the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Crohn’s & Colitis Disease Foundation. Laron and his family will be sponsoring the 2018 Southwestern Ice Association College Scholarship Fund in memory of Penny.
