The proposed 2017-2018 school calendar is up for discussion on the Carthage R-9 School District's website and comments will be taken until Thursday, Feb. 16.
The calendar will likely be up for final approval at the Board of Education's regular meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 at Columbian Elementary School.
First day of school in the proposed calendar is Thursday, Aug. 17, with a new teacher academy, for teachers new to the school district, scheduled for Aug. 7-10 and teacher preparation Aug. 14-16.
The school year will have 173 days with designated snow days on Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 15, 2018; President's Day, Feb. 19, 2018; and May 25, 29 and 30, 2018.
Christmas Break will start with early dismissal on Dec. 20 and end with students returning on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018.
People wanting to comment on the calendar should email Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Kandy Frazier at frazierk@carthagetigers.org before Feb. 16.
